I didn’t feel like it. I didn’t want to. I had no energy for it. It was late. But yesterday I made and canned salsa. The tomatoes were ripening fast and family and friends enjoy it so much. Be brave. So many bees enjoying the August flowers! Why plant a pollinator garden? Creating a habitat and food sources for beneficial insects makes my garden more productive and when I fill my spaces with plants that they love, more beautiful. They are swarming on a more recent addition to my garden, caryopteris, with gorgeous blue flowers.

First year growing a few Malabar Spinach plants. They are so colorful and interesting looking. Not a true spinach variety, but taste like a close cousin and can grow even in the heat of summer. Snipped the first blooms off my zinnias in hopes of getting more flowers in the coming weeks. Snipping or pinching is a new technique that I learned this spring that causes plants to branch out and produce more flowers. Looking forward to an abundance of color in my cutting garden. #zinnias #virginiagardening #cuttinggardenlove #cuttinggarden #abundantflowers #allthecolors

One of the joys of gardening is watching all the pollinators and seeing the variety that come to visit. Butterflies are particularly lovely to watch. Planting buddleia, or butterfly bushes, is a great way to gather them to your garden.
